Tell Willie

Willie,

I read, with interest, your response to the person who inquired about the classified staff evaluations that were done by an outside consulting firm for the School District of Oconee County. I believe the school district responded with the fact that bus drivers, coaches’ supplements and band director supplements were the benefactors of that evaluation.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe coaches and band directors are not classified staff. They are certified teachers. Plus, in order for the bus drivers to receive extra benefits, they are working extra hours inside the schools after they drive their bus routes.

AND, while I am on a roll, as a parent, I would like to know the reasoning behind the school districts taking driver’s education out of the school day and increasing the price to what it would almost cost us to send our child to a private driving school. I think this is defeating the whole purpose of our education system. Those students who would need it the most, ride the bus to and from school and would have a difficult time taking this class at that time much less being able to afford to pay for it.

When did we stop caring about the employees and students of Oconee County?

Willie,

I would like to know if there are any single’s clubs in Oconee County for people 60 years older and up. I am a widow of 10 years and would like to meet a nice responsible man to spend time with. I have several lady friends that would like to meet someone too.

Willie,

For what CAT buses cost taxpayers, all riders could be provided free luxury cars of their choosing and still save millions. Better yet, a mere fraction of current government gouging would result if Clemson and Seneca would simply pay the fare for everyone to ride the local taxi. It represents hundreds of dollars of wasted taxes for each empty CAT bus you see on the road. At least this fiasco should be scaled back.

Willie,

I just wanted to say that on Saturday morning when it was blistering cold. The Knights of Columbus were out on Highway 28 k picking up trash off the highway. I just wanted to say thanks to the Knights of Columbus!

Willie,

I want to know why County Council can’t pass an ordinance fining or suspending companies licenses when they hire illegals. They are in our factories and either can’t speak English or just won’t. Why does management hire them? Is it to keep our wages low?

Willie,

Does Northland Cable think people are crazy? They did away with basic cable. What a sly way of raising their rates.

Willie,

On Sunday, Feb. 18th I stopped at Riley’s Quick Stop and paid for my purchase in cash. The next day I realized I was missing a substantial amount of money. I went back the next day and the owner gave me my money. He told me his manager, Pam put it aside. This Yankee is very impressed with Salem and Riley’s in particular and yes, I left a nice reward.

Willie,

I was wondering if Oconee or Pickens County has a “no kill” animal shelter? What’s the deal with Bantam Chef in Seneca? Are they closed? I have noticed it hasn’t been open.

Willie,

On Thurs, Feb. 15 my husband was at a repair shop behind the Seneca Pawn Shop and we believe our 3 year-old grandson threw our checkbook out the window. If someone finds it, we ask that they take it to Community First Bank in Seneca or Walhalla. We are retired and need that checkbook. We will give a reward to whoever turns it in.

Willie,

Could you find out what is being built where the old Pizza Hut next to Staples used to be?

Willie,

I think The Golden Corner Food Ministries is great for helping people out with food but some of the food is out of date by a year or two. Could you please check into this?

Willie,

I wanted to respond to the person who called in regarding the crosses on the road, I feel when I drive by one of those crosses it is a sign to me to slow down and I appreciate them being there.

Willie,

We need a president like Harry Truman. He told Douglas MacArthur to kiss his behind. He also brought our boys home and ended the war.

Willie,

Occasionally I read articles written by Carroll Gambrell. He seems to be a reasonably intelligent person so how could he be so unaware or uninformed about some of the issues he writes about. A few weeks ago he put down the Dixie Chicks and last week they took home five Grammy awards. He also congratulated Gresham Barrett for his bravery voting against the increase in minimum wage. How much bravery does it take a millionare to vote on that?

Willie,

I just wanted to say Ace Hardware has always been great to me. They have a new employee Scott Turner and Brian has really made a good pick with that kid. I shop there a lot on Saturday’s and throughout the week and he, as well as the rest of them, is always so helpful.

Willie,

I’m a pastor’s wife and I wanted to post a warning to parents. There is a whole lot of Satanic music out there. Pay attention to what your kids are doing and take it serious.

Willie,

I’m calling in about the person that had a problem with their life insurance. They need to get an attorney and sue that company. They wouldn’t want to do that to me because I would sue.

Willie,

I would like to comment on the Healthcare Pro in the paper on Feb. 21. Dr. Moore, at Seneca Animal Hospital, is the most capable person in the world dealing with the animals. He is also fantastic with the owner’s of the animals. His whole staff is the most courteous. I cannot say enough about Dr. Moore and his staff. They are just fabulous.

Willie,

I was calling in response to the person who complained about the roadside crosses. They said the people were already in Heaven or Hell. That is not true. You only go there after resurrection.

Willie,

This is a serious question. A friend and I were watching the storm and wanted to know which end of the rainbow is the pot of gold supposed to be on?

Willie,

Do you have any idea when the park in Seneca will be finished? I think they built Rome quicker than this.

Willie,

Is it true that the West-Oak Principal has say over anything written in the Seneca Journal, including in the “Tell Willie” column, about West-Oak High School?
