Warriors in third place after opening round of Jack Shadwick Invitational
SENECA — The SWU golf team fired a team score 307 on day one of the Jack Shadwick Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan at Cross Creek Plantation, and stands in a tie for third place, just 10 strokes behind leader Lindsey Wilson College.
SWU’s Chris Newton and Cody Edwards each shot rounds of 5 over-par on the par 71 Cross Creek Plantation course and currently stand in 12th place in the individual competition. Teammates Anthony Conn and Pieter Martin are not far behind as they shot 76 and 77 respectively. Joshua Ivy finished out the scoring for SWU with a round of 81. University of the Cumberlands’ Joey Bussdieker shot an even par round of 71 and holds a one stroke lead over three golfers heading into the final round on Tuesday.
