Westminster man arrested on Chauga on drug charges

A 31-year-old Westminster man was arrested Friday by Department of Natural Resources (DNR) law enforcement officers, Lt. Robert McCullough confirmed Monday.

Benjamin Matthew Miller was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and scheduled drugs for which he did not have a prescription, McCullough said.

“An officer was making checks for licenses at the Land’s Bridge area, checking fishermen,” McCullough said. “They ran across Mr. Miller and while checking, found quite a few things on him.”

He was booked at Oconee County Detention Center and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of schedule IV drugs with intent to distribute.

Miller was released Saturday on $15,570 personal recognizance bond.
