Latest Hollywood script deals

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – Veteran screenwriter Dan Gordon (“The Hurricane,” “Wyatt Earp”) has signed to write the screenplay for “The King of Sting,” a drama about con man Craig Glazer.

Based on Glazer’s book of the same name, the project follows the author’s 20 years of exploits, posing as an undercover narcotics agent and pocketing money from stings. Glazer and a partner were so adept at conning victims that the Kansas City Police Department hired them to conduct stings.

In addition to his screenwriting credits, Gordon wrote the current Broadway hit “Irena’s Vow,” which stars Tovah Feldshuh as a Polish Catholic nurse who hid Jews during World War II.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – “27 Dresses” screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is adapting “We Bought a Zoo” for 20th Century Fox. The studio picked up the rights to Benjamin Mee’s memoir in February.

Mee and his cancer-stricken wife purchased a run-down zoo in the English countryside, and along with their kids rehabilitated the facility and its 200 exotic animals.

McKenna also wrote the screenplay for “The Devil Wears Prada.” J.J. Abrams is producing her comedy script “Morning Glory” for Paramount, and MGM will release “Fame,” which she co-wrote, in September.
