Seneca man dies on Shiloh

SENECA — Christopher Dunmyer of Seneca died at the scene of an early Friday morning vehicle collision.

Dunmyer, of 715 Bellview Drive, died from blunt force trauma after a 2:45 a.m. accident on Shiloh Road, near Carson Road about 1.5 miles east of Seneca. Coroner Karl Addis released the 27-year-old’s name later Friday.

No alcohol was evident at the scene, Addis said. Specimens will be submitted to South Carolina Law Enforcement Division for toxicology analysis, he added.

Dunmyer was driving a 2004 Ford pickup westbound when the driver went off the right side of the road and overcorrected. He then went off the left side of the road and overcorrected again before going back off the right side and striking a tree, said Lance Cpl. Kathy Hiles of South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The man was wearing a seat belt, Hiles said.

Dunmyer’s death is the eleventh automobile-related fatality in Oconee County this year, according to the Highway Patrol. It is the second such fatality this week, following a single-vehicle crash Monday that killed Georgia’s Ryan Donkersgoed.
